The green oasis on the outskirts of Rostock city center the novel 1860 created by the Rostock city architect Joachim Wilcken. As in 19. century the medieval defenses were rendered ineffective by modern warfare technology, the rose garden replaced parts of the city wall, ramparts and moats.

Also the traditional ship with the current name "Peace" has its berth here. It is part of the Rostock Maritime Museum and shows you interesting things about shipbuilding and shipping history in regular exhibitions.
