In 1882 was on the beach of Warnemünde the first beach chair in the world set up. It was built by the Warnemünde basket maker Wilhelm Bartelmann, who was asked to make a seat for the beach by an elderly lady suffering from rheumatism. This was the Birth of the first beach chair.
